Summer is our busiest season at Riverdale Animal Shelter, and right now, we have an unusually high number of animals in our care. We’ve received an outpouring of kind messages and questions from the community asking how they can help and we’re so grateful. If you’re looking to support the shelter, here are a few meaningful ways to make a difference:
Donate supplies we can use right away. We’re in need of the following items to enrich and care for our animals:
- Purina brand food – especially kitten food!
- Soft dog treats.
- Towels, new or gently used.
- Household items like small cardboard boxes (cereal box size or smaller), paper towel/toilet paper rolls, and newspaper.
We kindly ask that donors reference the Donation Guidelines on our website to be mindful of what we can and cannot use. This helps us stay focused on the animals' needs and reduce waste and storage strain: animalshelter.adcogov.org/donate
Volunteer or foster
Whether you're interested in helping at the shelter or opening your home to an animal temporarily, your time can make a life-changing impact: animalshelter.adcogov.org/volunteer-foster-student-community-service
