Lost & Found

What happens when someone brings us a lost pet

Upon arriving at our shelter, we try our very best to reunite every lost pet with their owner. First, we check for a microchip that may be implanted on the pet with its owner’s contact information. If one exists, we’ll call the person identified, so be sure your contact information is up to date on the microchip.

If the lost pet doesn’t have a microchip, we hold them for five business days to give owners enough time to search for their pet.  We also put every lost pet that comes into our shelter onto petharbor.com, so be sure to check there, too.

On the seventh day, if the pet has not yet been claimed, and is healthy, they will become available for adoption.
